"Family is a feeling, it is what is familiar to us, or it can be the people in our lives that make us feel accepted and loved as we are--the ones who tell us we matter."

Imperfectly

Perfect

Imperfectly Perfect is a concert aiming to deepen and broaden the understanding of what family means in the present day.

Through the incorporation of song, spoken word, and personal experiences of family relationships we hope to offer the audience a new curiosity regarding their own definition and preconceived idea of family.

Performed at Helsinki Hudson’s Club stage, the concert will be presented cabaret style with dinner and drinks available through Club Helsinki’s restaurant menu. Club Helsinki prides itself on their ever changing seasonal and locally sourced menu. They strive to create a menu of creative homespun seasonally selected food in a welcoming and beautiful atmosphere. Chef Horner’s menus reflect food from his youth - tastes learned from his grandmother, where outdoor cooking, Pig Pickings, Shrimp Boils and Oyster Roasts were the norms of the day.

Imperfectly Perfect is an all-american program, consisting of post 1950 compositions relating to the universal themes of loss, parenthood, familial conflict, and the celebration of family.  The music will range from the avant-garde compositions of George Rochberg, to the cinematic music of Guggenheim Fellowship award winner Jake Heggie, and will feature selections from renowned and well-loved theater composer Stephen Sondheim.

Partnership with KIND

we are partnering with Kids in Need of Defense in order to bring awareness to this wonderful organization that gives legal support to children who are trying to gain asylum in the states.

Many of these children arrive to the states or apply for visas alone, without parental supervision. Some of them have support of their parents and some do not. During this process KIND becomes a sort of surrogate family providing, not only legal support, but emotional support as well.
